• Bare root- scoop and shake out soil from the root system

• Root ball- scoop without the shake

• Container grown

• Use the National Plant Specification, which all depends on the stem caliber

• It's worth it to visit your local nursery and tag the ones you want, and be there for transportation

• If you’re unsure of the quality, order and additional one and break one open to see what

  the root system looks like- do not accept over length, dried out roots, bad flare, root-bound, plastic coating or galvanised steel

• Look for consistency between last season's growth and the current season’s growth
